Aerial photo of Ojai Valley Foursquare Church completed 1985. I was the designer as well as co-construction
manager, with the church treasurer Leonard Dollar. Pastor at the time was Ruby Mae Savage. Two years
ago it was used by the Ojai Music Festival as the venue for a master class conducted by Susan Graham, who
sang the first song at the President's inauguration in January 2005. Four student sopranos each sang an
operatic aria for Ms. Graham and the audience; later that day maestro Pierre Boulez was interviewed in the
same auditorium of the church. I was thrilled with the success of the acoustics, tested by voices that could
shatter glass.

A true Pro Bono Job: My model for Ojai Meadows Preserve
Nature Center that was allowed by an earlier Ojai Valley Land
Conservancy Board and then voted down by a subsequent
Board; it was to be a Platinum LEED certified Green Building
featuring a Solar Electric System, a Solar Water Heater, an
over-all "Passive Solar" Design, High Performance Windows,
Rainwater Harvesting, a Gift Shop, Community Meeting Room
and Kitchen, a Preserve Manager's Office, Small Aviaries for
Ojai Raptor Center Education Birds, an Outdoor Ampitheater
for presentations to students from the three adjacent schools,
and my personal favorite--a Wildlife Emergency Treatment
Room for 24 hour intake of injured and orphaned birds and
small mammals.
